Exciting opportunity to work within one of our Global Process Resource and Technology groups sitting on our Catalyst locations in Louisville, KY. You will be responsible for planning, managing, and monitoring of experiments for projects either on piloting scale or on lab scale, acting as single point of contact for all business partners. Coordinates the execution and takes measures to improve operations, safety, environment and energy. Documents results of experiments and contributes to process design package. Supports transfer of new process to commercial scale. Acts as deputy of Team Lead Pilot Plant.
Responsibilities
- Plans experiments considering the required resources (people, equipment, chemicals)
- Responsible for writing SOPs for experiments, calculates and orders needed chemicals
- Informs and instructs pilot plant operators and technicians in lab
- Monitors and reviews experiments and defines improvements
- Reports results of experiments, including clear recommendations and decisions
- Responsible for writing PRT reports, including Process Design Packages
- Prepares and manages the transfer of the process to commercial scale
- Tracks the state of art for new technologies for production processes
- Define optimization and innovation potentials for piloting at Clariant
- Represents Clariant in scientific committees or conferences
- Ensure reporting and IP generated by work
- Execute and secure ESHA and Product Safety standards in line with local legislation and Clariant policies
- Establish Clariant Risk Portfolio Analysis, initiate risk analysis and safeguard respective implementation
- Ensure highest priority on safety, energy and environmental targets also ensures in I2M and Capex processes (FEL) all mandatory piloting and scale-up work and commissioning preparation
- Represents PRT (Project Resource Technology) towards key stakeholders (site teams, BU partners)
- Guarantees effective exchange between R&D and PRT functions, production, and external partners
Requirements
- University PhD or Master’s Degree preferred in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent. Will also look at candidates with BS Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent with some industry experience.
- Seeking 1-5 years of experience in R&D, Process Development, engineering or production.
- Experience managing or coordinating people, teams, projects and budget management would be a plus.
- Sound knowledge of state of the art in process technology desired.
- Clariant experience a major plus would be: Knowledge about Clariant portfolio, technology, production processes, leadership skills
- Broad knowledge in chemical engineering science, mathematical methods desired.
- Contacts to external scientific community and Lean Sigma trained are both pluses for this role.
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
