Job description
Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, policies and procedures, the Medical Transcriptionist transcribes medical dictation from the information system. Responsibilities include keeping productivity statistics and routing appropriate copies of dictations to floors and physicians.. May perform duties of a scribe related to responses to clinical documentation queries, and may perform charge duties as requested. This can be a home based position with attendance at in-services, meetings, workshops and continuing education required. May also be required to work on-site at the discretion of the Manager.
Education:High School Diploma required, Associate Degree in Health Information, or Graduate of Accredited Medical Secretary Program preferred.
Licensure/Certification: None required.
Experience: A minimum of 6 months of transcribing experience in a health care setting of similar size and scope is required.
Skills: Competency in Escription and Microsoft Word, documented knowledge of medical terminology, and strong keyboard skills are required.
