Position Overview:

Assists the Facilitator of Patient Access with providing training, guidance, coverage and technical assistance at St. Luke's Hospital Patient Access Department. Acts as a key resource to the Patient Access Staff and promotes positive working relations with personnel within and outside the department. Ensures high quality customer service provided to patients. Acts as an assistant to the Patient Access/Patient Accounting Management Team.

Job Description:

EDUCATION
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

Previous Patient Access Experience as typically obtained in 5 years is required.

Experience with hospital patient billing and registration will be considered a distinguishing factor.

Desired experience includes working knowledge of scheduling and point of service (registration/admission) requirements.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology is required.

Requires an understanding of government and commercial/ managed care payers’ requirements regarding verification of eligibility, benefits, participations, and patient liabilities.

Understanding of pre-certification/authorization procedures to ensure payment is required.

Must have excellent interpersonal and telephone skills, along with effective verbal and communication skills.

Must be able to prioritize workload and work in a setting with intense time pressures with minimal supervision/ direction.

Requires the ability to concentrate on detail-oriented tasks with a high degree of problem-solving abilities.

Ability to type 45 wpm; proficient in the use of computers and the Internet for on-line eligibility inquiry.

Pay Range: $28.14 - $37.76 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
