Pipe Layer - Laborer Job Summary
Honc is seeking an experienced and reliable Pipe Layer who knows how to work with water, sanitary and storm pipes to join our team.
Pipe Layer Duties and Responsibilities
- Install and repair sanity, storm and water structures and pipe systems
- Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using welding equipment, cement or glue
- Grade and level trench bases
- Making connections to lines including sewer lines, water lines and storm sewers
- Lay out pipe routes, following written instructions or blueprints, and coordinating layouts with supervisors
- Dig trenches to desired or required depths, by hand or using trenching tools
- Inspect places where pipes are fitted together to ensure pipes are spaced out properly and according to specifications
- Responsible for wearing appropriate safety/protective clothing/gear
- Other duties as assigned
Pipe Layer Requirements and Qualifications
- Certification in pipelaying or one year of experience in the filed
- Ability to communicate effectively with crew members including written and spoken word
- Cut, fit and seal various types of piping
- Knowledge on operation of cutting equipment used to cut various types of piping material
- Ability to sit, climb, squat, bend or stand for an extended period of time. In addition, ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a team setting
- Pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and background check is required
- Ability to communicate and report effectively
- Ability to perform intense manual labor
- Certifications and Competency Cards are a plus
Compensation
- Based on experience
- Full Time: 45-50+ hour work week
