Position Description

Job Summary:
Kentucky Christian University is accepting applications for adjunct faculty to teach face-to-face courses in Physical Education and Health in the School of Education.

Current Content Area Openings:
Health, Physical Education

Reporting Relationship:
Adjunct faculty report to the Dean of the School of Education.

Education and Experience:
Candidates will hold no less than a Master’s degree, including at least 18 graduate semester hours (or the equivalent in quarter hours) in the Education field. Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience grades K-12

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Adjunct faculty for Education courses have the following responsibilities:
1. Teach, guide, and evaluate students enrolled in assigned course(s).
2. Assist in developing, instructing, evaluating, and revising assigned course(s) to enhance educational quality.
3. Work collaboratively with the faculty and the Dean of the School of Education.
4. Be available to students enrolled in assigned course(s) outside the formal classroom setting to clarify content and respond to student concerns.
5. Serve in an advisory role to the School of Education in the ongoing efforts to improve quality.
6. Maintain and comply with all policies, rules, and regulations outlined in the Kentucky Christian University Faculty Handbook.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills, and/or abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
1. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
2. Ability to compute rates, percentages, and ratios
3. Ability to read and comprehend detailed instructions, correspondence, memos, budget reports, audit reports, state licensing forms, evaluation forms and assessments, professional journals, technical procedures, various information report forms, and papers
4. Ability to clearly write complex correspondence, memos, and reports
5. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small or large group situations personally, over the telephone, by email, and through the use of virtual technologies
6. Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
7. Ability to define problems, evaluate, and make independent decisions based on experience and knowledge with minimal supervision
8. Ability to use computer technology at least at an elementary to intermediate level
9. Sufficient manual dexterity in a least one hand to be able to operate all electronic and computer equipment and manually complete paperwork such as signing completed reports
10. Ability to grasp and lift or otherwise move goods weighing up to 10 pounds. At times, folders and other records must be filed
11. Ability to learn and perform essential job functions accurately with minimal direct supervision, within three (3) months after employee begins work
12. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information

Other Ergonomic Requirements:
Current institutional operations and building designs ordinarily require the individual to sit, stand, reach, bend, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and perform similar physical functions while doing general office tasks. All individuals are required to be able to perform these movements without significant risk of injury, or to otherwise demonstrate or explain how they can perform the essential functions listed above.

Conditions of Employment:
1. The successful candidate shall enthusiastically support the University’s tenets of faith and demonstrate spiritual maturity.
2. Contracted employee, appointment length varies with need.
3. Salary range: Based on credentials and professional experience.
