Overview:
Join our team as a PRN Certified Pharmacy Technician!

This position is responsible for conducting technical functions of the pharmacy department in an effective and safe manner. Works closely under the supervision of the pharmacist and works closely with the nursing staff.
Responsibilities:
Major Responsibilities:
  • Required to work a minimum of four shifts per four-week period in their home unit.
  • Required to work one major holiday per year (winter: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year). This holiday must be scheduled on the Associate’s home unit. Must observe principles of universal protocol
  • Under the supervision of a pharmacist, prioritize and fills medication orders, automated dispensing machines, and other medication delivery devices accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Practice in accordance with federal, state and local laws and in compliance with the requirements of the Texas State Board of Pharmacy and Seton regulations and code of conduct.
  • Accurately restocks and replenishes Pharmacy with received inventory from wholesaler as well as received returns from floor and automated dispensing machines.
  • Reviews pharmacy charges and credits to ensure correct and accurate billing; takes action to correct or remedy billing discrepancies.
  • Prepares sterile intravenous admixtures aseptically and in compliance with USP regulations, State Board regulations, and institutional policies.
  • Ensures all expired, damaged, or compromised medication in Pharmacy, automated machines, and floor stock are removed and segregated from active inventory.
  • Maintains the pharmacy in a neat, organized and clean manner
  • Performs additional technical tasks as requested by the pharmacists on duty
Qualifications:
Education/Skills/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of hospital experience to include experience with automated dispensing machines, IV admixture service (including TPN compounding) preferred
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
  • Current Pharmacy Technician Certification from Texas State Board of Pharmacy is required
  • Current National Pharmacy Technician Certification is required
  • BLS through the American Heart Association
