Job Description and Responsibilities:

Little Acorn Christian Preschool is a non-profit child development center that is a mission of the First Presbyterian Church of Mountain View and is committed to excellence in early childhood education. Established in 1981, we are a year-round center providing high-quality early childhood education to full-time working families. We foster a child-led, play-based, emergent curriculum, inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and overarching Christian values.

This individual must bring a spirit of collaboration, openness, and flexibility to their role each day in order to support a dynamic, organic, and nurturing climate for all children and adults. This position requires a candidate to be a critical thinker, reflective, communicative, curious, inclusive, and professional; the candidate knows how to work with children in a developmentally appropriate manner with a constructivist approach and is aligned with Little Acorn Christian Preschool’s mission, philosophy, and pedagogy.

Responsibilities Include:

• Assisting classroom teacher's with daily tasks like; engaging with children, sanitizing toys and equipment, cleaning the classroom, changing diapers + helping with toileting
• Approaching each child with care and respect; maintaining a high image of the child
• Learning alongside children, and developing an appropriate emergent curriculum
• Creating an effective environment for learning through daily provocations, invitations, and intentional presentation of materials
• Communicating openly and effectively with parents, administration, and colleagues
• Promote opportunities for creative thinking, skill-building, problem-solving, and meaningful relationships
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of child development ages, stages, and constructivist theories

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
