Job Description – Part-Time Data Collector (20 - 29 Hours per week)

Our uniquely‐qualified team specializes in supporting municipal parking and mobility programs across the country, consistently proving our ability to identify and implement operations, management, and technology recommendations to transition municipal parking operations to long‐term, sustainable programs.
One of our key business objectives is to support our clients with the development of customized parking technology roadmaps that define current and future parking and transportation needs. We support cities with an array of services including parking studies, best practice comparisons, data analysis, incentive and pilot programs, TDM planning, financial modeling, stakeholder outreach, and developing technology, staffing, and wayfinding recommendations.
Job Summary
The Parking and Transportation Part-Time Employee will provide direct support to DIXON Associates. This role requires a self‐motivated individual with an independent work ethic, capable of coordinating short‐term and long‐term project assignments.
This position has flexible schedule for up to 20 hours per week, a minimum of two full workdays per week, preferred, some scope of the work may be completed remotely.

Responsibilities and Duties
The specific responsibilities of the Parking and Transportation Part-Time Employee may change from time to time, requiring cooperation and adaptability as the needs of DIXON’s customers evolve. DIXON reserves the right to change, without prior notice, the assignments, duties, and reporting relationships for the Part-Time Employee.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Traverse Parking Lots to obtain data necessary for Dixon to complete its on-site assessment for an ongoing project in Wailuku
  • Excellent opportunity to learn about parking and transportation best‐practices for municipalities

May Also involve:

  • Assist in assessments, analytics, evaluations, and projections of strategies, services and program solutions to address specific parking, transportation, and mobility issues
  • Participate in the development and/or revisions of reports, manuals, and policy recommendations
  • Draft analytical and operational processes and analysis from field evaluations and data collection, including utilization and occupancy studies
  • Translate technical information and recommendations into clear, high quality, concisely written deliverables
  • Edit reports to ensure proper grammar, spelling, syntax, and style
  • Evaluate best practices based on comparable projects. Analyze data and support the development of policies relating to parking and transportation; and,
  • Attend and take thorough notes during project conference calls and meetings.

Qualifications

  • May be (but not required to be) currently enrolled in an undergrad or graduate program in urban and regional planning, community planning, public policy, political science, architecture, urban design, urban studies, economics, real estate development, geography, or another closely related field
  • Preferred knowledge of principles, practices, and methods of urban planning, including familiarity with transportation, parking, and land use planning practices and strategies
  • Understanding of basic research techniques, methods, and procedures
  • Detail‐oriented, self‐motivated, organized, and able to work in a deadline‐driven environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Strong writing skills with emphasis on proper grammar, sentence structure, and formatting
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
