Job description
THE STARTING SALARY FOR A NEW HIRE TO THIS POSITION IS LIMITED TO THE RECRUITMENT RANGE OF $52,278 to $58,000. Client funded. Salary determination is based upon the candidate's education and experience related to the position, as well as departmental budget and equity considerations.

Please detail ALL work history including non-state service experience. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY or MAY NOT result.
The duties for this paralegal position include:
Drafts discovery requests and responses; prepares for trials and hearings; may attend depositions, hearings and trials; contacts witnesses and attorneys to schedule depositions; ascertains information on the status of cases pending and motions filed with the various courts. Drafts pleadings, motions, orders and correspondence. Performs legal research manually and electronically from various sources. Must keep accurate records of complex files: contacts persons to obtain information pertaining to and necessary for various cases and proceedings.

1. Knowledge of rules of procedure in both federal and state trial, administrative and appellate courts.
2. Ability to organize and maintain records and files.
3. Familiarity with proper formats of legal documents.
4. Ability to communicate clearly, logically, and effectively in written and oral form.
5. High proficiency with Microsoft Office suites and case management database technology.
6. Ability to analyze and interpret statutes, case law, formal rules, policies and procedural guidelines.
7. Ability to use logical thinking skills to resolve problems and questions.
8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
9. Command of an experience in applying collaborative methods in an active litigation and operational environment.
Graduation from an appropriately accredited institution for paralegal training and two years of experience as a paralegal;
or Bachelor s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of substantive paralegal experience;
or High school or General Education Development (GED) diploma and six years of paralegal experience performing delegated, substantive legal work;
or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
