Role:
To provide administrative and operational support to the CAO / In-House Counsel.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
50% Assist in the review / drafting of a wide variety of contracts, leases, letters, NDAs, reports, policies and legal documents; perform legal research on a multitude of issues using LexisNexis or Westlaw and other channels; perform administrative and operational duties including file organization and maintenance; track litigation.

20% Support and maintain accurate and thorough contract management of all First Service contracts using the credit union’s contract software and ensure that key terms and conditions are correctly flagged / tracked.

20% Handle special projects and assignments, as assigned and directed by CAO.

10% Performs other related duties as assigned.

1. To uphold and encourage the First Service culture, which includes the First Service Compass, quality standards, traits, and behaviors.

2. To provide friendly, timely, accurate, professional and confidential administrative and operational support within the Legal Department.

3. To meet required deadlines.

4. To maintain a professional work environment and business like appearance.

5. To keep manager informed regarding key operating issues affecting the department.

Knowledge and Skills:
Experience

1 to 5 years of similar or related experience; 1+ year(s) of legal drafting and legal research; compliance experience (preferred); financial institution background (preferred).

Education

A high school education or GED (required); paralegal certificate (preferred); Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in a related degree (preferred).

Interpersonal Skills

Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves daily personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information, which may require some discussion. Exceptional communication skills on the phone, in person and via email are critical.

Other Skills

Excellent organizational skills and work ethic with the ability to handle numerous matters simultaneously, prioritizing and effectively managing time;
Strong background in contract administration;
Full proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – especially Word;
Type minimum of 50 wpm;
Maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times;
Works well under pressure;
Must be able to work independently on assignments of varying complexity with minimum supervision.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $56,000.00 per year
