SUMMARY

Professional painters apply coatings to a variety of substrates providing the finishing touches to create a beautiful space. Depending on the project, a painter applies coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, epoxy, or lacquer to decorate and protect the designated surfaces. S/he is in charge of providing the general aesthetics and creating the vision of the designer on a project. The ideal candidate artistic and loves working with instruments to apply coatings. S/he should have an aesthetic sense, be detail-oriented, and organized with great physical dexterity, strength and balance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare surfaces for receiving new coatings, including sanding, filling holes, removing old paint.
• Mix required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint to match specified colors.
• Apply coatings to surfaces, using brushes, spray guns, paint rollers, and the like.
• Prepare premixed paints to apply to surfaces.
• Stain, seal, and varnish wood surfaces to designated consistency.
• Assemble temporary equipment and structures
• Clock in and out of work days
• Notify appropriate personnel of constraints and task completion
• Review blueprints and specifications to adhere to client s finishing look

Example Duties

• Paint interior and exterior of buildings with designated coatings
• Detect areas in need of touch up and apply correct to create a smooth and uniform finish
• Clean areas at the end of every work day, removing debris and excess drippings
• Remove old wallpaper using water, steam machines, or solvents and scrapers
• Review schedule and task assignment at the start of each work day

PRE-REQUISITES

• Good color vision is necessary
• Comfortable working with chemicals, tools and powered machinery
• High School diploma, or GED
• Artistic, Wall Covering, or other Finishing experience, preferred
• CV, or Resume, preferred
• Willing to learn, receive feedback

SALARY AND BENEFITS

This position is available for seasonal, project-based, or full-time hourly. The standard work week is 40 hours (8 hours a day, 5 days a week). Additional hours are subject to additional compensation.

The range for this is $17-38/hr based on years of experience, qualifications, previous experience and certifications received.
