For 70 years, Austin Child Guidance Center (ACGC) has been a leader in the provision of evidence-based treatment for children and their families in Greater Austin. Now serving all of Central Texas, ACGC works with a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals to offer three programs: Care & Treatment: individual, family and group therapy; psychiatric and psychological services and a child and adolescent walk-in clinic. Professional Development & Training: internal and external training of the next generation of mental health providers in our community and corporate and nonprofit training and consultation. Community Education: free parent workshops, panel discussions, resource guides and a bi-weekly podcast. JOB TITLE: Outreach Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Clinical/Programs
REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Client Services
SUMMARY: The Outreach Specialist will be highly visible and actively engaged within ACGC’s service area including the underserved and underrepresented population and will facilitate outreach activities for ACGC programs and services to increase potential client and community knowledge of ACGC programs and services and requests for services. Outreach activities include, but are not limited to, making phone calls to potential partners, attending Community Resource Fairs, PTA nights and networking events. The Outreach Specialist will support the Associate Director of Client Services by coordinating community outreach and increasing community engagement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follows ACGC’s outreach plan to ensure program goals and objectives are accomplished for ACGC’s service area of Travis and nine (9) surrounding counties
- Develops relationships with community organizations and community leaders to produce referrals and develop client participation
- Maintains a database of outreach efforts including events attended, calls made, emails sent, presentations given, flyers posted, etc.
- Assists the Associate Director of Client Services in maintaining a database of current partner organizations as well as potential partners
- Participates in outreach events, including, but not limited to, community events and resource fairs
- Provides input to presentations and other promotional material that supports outreach efforts
- Works with Development Team and Programs to regularly update community partners on agency services and events through phone calls, email blasts, newsletters, blog posts, website content, participation in community meetings, etc.
- Provides basic technology assistance to clients in underserved communities on the use of tablets and video conferencing
- Translates outreach materials from English to Spanish as needed
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management
- Drives to community events and travels within Travis and the surrounding counties for outreach efforts
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six months to one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite
- Other skills preferred: Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Experience engaging underserved populations (Spanish speakers; those with low income; members of the BIPOC community; those living outside of city limits; those who are un/underinsured)
- Valid Driver’s License, auto insurance, and reliable transportation for travel in Travis and surrounding nine (9) counties

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person at normal volumes.
- Vision adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard
- Strength and motor skills to manage some of the manipulative items associated with particular testing measures
