Position description
Mayo Clinic Health System Decorah Clinic Physicians (MCHS DCP) at Winneshiek Medical Center (WMC) is seeking a full time orthopedic surgeon to join our practice in Decorah, Iowa. The orthopedic surgeon will be responsible for providing clinic-based orthopedic consultations and surgical procedures, primarily in joint replacements, sports medicine/arthroscopic surgery, and some trauma. The patient population may involve some pediatrics, but the majority of patients will be age 16 and up.

• Become a member of a team of two Orthopedic Surgeons, 1 Podiatrist, ortho/surgical PAs and nurses upon completion of recruitment.
• Close collaboration with a robust occupational health program facilitated by a well-trained advanced practice provider.
• Potential outreach to surrounding communities within a 60-mile radius.
• MCHS DCP is the orthopedic and sports medicine provider for Upper Iowa University (UIU) and Luther College. A MCHS DCP orthopedic surgeon serves as the team physician for the department of athletics and provides weekly training room and home event coverage for select events. MCHS DCP primary care physicians and advanced practice providers also serve as the student health service providers during the academic year.
• The orthopedics and sports medicine department is supported by the WMC Rehab and Sports Medicine Department which is the largest and most comprehensive provider in the region with a staff of 42 employees. WMC Rehab and Sports Medicine provides athletic training services to six high schools in northeast Iowa and southeast Minnesota. Staffing in the Rehab Department consists of 12 Athletic Trainers, 12 Physical Therapists (2 PTs with orthopedic clinical specialty certification, 1 PT with Sports Clinical Specialty certification), 8 Occupational Therapists (3 certified hand therapists and Lymphedema certified therapists), and several therapists certified in Augmented Soft Tissue Mobilization techniques.
• WMC has developed plans to invest approximately $48 million over the next 3 years in renovations and new construction for a medical office building, obstetrical department, and new operating rooms that will be robotics capable.

License or certification
Board-certified/Board-eligible in Orthopedic Surgery and eligible for medical licensure in Iowa.
