Mad River Eye Care in Waitsfield, VT is looking to hire a full-time Optician / Apprentice Optician to assist our clients, perform lab work, and help manage our optical department. This entry-level optometry position earns competitive compensation, depending on the current license. An entry-level apprentice optician earns $20 - $22/hour. A licensed optician earns $23+/hour. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN OPTICIAN / APPRENTICE OPTICIAN
As an Optician / Apprentice Optician, you play an important role in our eye care practice. In collaboration with our dedicated team, you offer exceptional customer service to our clients who come to us seeking help with their vision. Well-trained in all our products and services, you act as an expert guide, skillfully walking our clients through the process of finding the eyewear that best meets their needs. Often, you work in our lab as well, using the latest technology and your keen eye for detail to edge lenses and fabricate glasses.
Organized and efficient, you also help with the management of our optical department, which includes ordering supplies, keeping the area clean, and meeting with the reps. Another of your important tasks is to help plan and carry out our quarterly promotional events, where you enjoy helping us get the word out about our growing practice and the amazing customer service we offer. Each day brings interesting challenges and the chance to interact with a variety of people. You love serving our customers and helping them see, look, and feel their best!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN OPTICIAN / APPRENTICE OPTICIAN
- High school diploma or equivalent
Experience in the field as well as the possession of a VT Optician license are preferred. However, we would welcome a motivated, entry-level candidate with an interest in an apprenticeship, which would lead to licensing in 2 years.

WORK SCHEDULE FOR AN OPTICIAN / APPRENTICE OPTICIAN
This entry-level optometry position works Monday - Thursday, 7:45 am - 5:15 pm, and enjoys a three-day weekend every week!
