The Operations Manager leads and supervises Labor Center Operations and administrative functions, including ensuring appropriate systems, policies, controls and standards are in place. Assists in overseeing operations team who carry out responsibilities in the areas of financial and accounts management, facilities management, event coordination, and public relations, and IT support and coordination. Develops and manages systems and protocols for Labor Center staff onboarding process, including orientation, training and support regarding UCLA, IRLE, and Labor Center policies, procedures, and forms, and setting up work stations and equipment, as well as the staff separation process. Working closely with the Labor Center staff director, supervisors, and IRLE staff, develops and manages protocols for the hiring, onboarding, and separation process for work study students and graduate students (GSRs). Ensures all Labor Center transactions are aligned with the organization budget and in compliance with UCLA, IRLE, and Labor Center financial, travel, event and personnel policies and procedures. Leads Labor Center strategic operation initiatives to strengthen the efficiency and impact of the Labor Center operations and infrastructure.

Ability to provide own transportation between campus and downtown facilities and to attend off-site events.

Fluent bilingual English/Spanish skills, including oral interpretation and written translation.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, as dictated by operational needs.

Experience with UCLA and Labor Center policies and procedures.

Thorough familiarity with Labor Center constituency groups, issues, and projects, including the Southern California labor movement and worker organizations.

Experience with UCLA BruinBuy, Express, Conexxus/BCD, Pre-Trip Authorization, CashNet, Island systems and Pcard policies.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, campus personnel, community persons, and students to produce quality group work.

Skill in writing business correspondence, analytical reports, procedural manuals, and evaluation instruments to convey simple and complex information to others.

Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial record keeping procedures in order to monitor budgets and recommend budget priorities.
