Reports to: Safety and Training Manager
Status: Non-exempt (Hourly)

Transdev’s San Francisco Paratransit Operations has provided paratransit service to San Francisco since 2014, providing regular ADA paratransit services, group services and shopping and cultural group services. The system is comprised of a revenue fleet of 150 vehicles and approximately 200 employees.
Purpose of Position:
The Operations Safety Supervisor provides direct supervision and leadership to the drivers and aides; monitoring and addressing driver safety performance, timely rollouts, On Time service provision, and Drive Cam safety system review. The Operations Safety Supervisor also investigates incidents and accidents and works closely with the Safety and Training Manager and other managers to foster a work environment of safety and quality customer service.
Responsibilities:
· Performs drivers’ safety evaluation ride checks, observation of drivers while making their runs, and prescribes the necessary retraining;
· Maintains radio and telephone contact with transit vehicle drivers and coordinates service provision
· Responds to service problems including rerouting and passenger events with the goal of restoration of interrupted service
· Investigates accidents and incidents
· Directly supervises drivers, responsible to lead, coach, and discipline drivers up through the Written Warning level of progressive discipline
· Provides relief to service provision by driving in revenue service if required
· Reviews and investigates Drive Cam video, and applies the appropriate interaction with the driver in accordance to established policies
· Provides leadership to the operations employees by demonstrating safe work behaviors and following all company rules and policies
· Investigates and responds to situation reports and potential unsafe locations; making reports and recommendations
· Effectively communicates with management personnel regarding operational or safety issues or concerns and coordinates efforts toward their resolution
· Provides passenger assistance to drivers
· Coordinates with departmental managers to address roadside problems
· Prepares and maintains reports and performs clerical activities associated with operations
· Assists the Safety and Training Manager in the administration of the company’s Drug and Alcohol testing and Work Comp programs
- Supervises staff and responsible to direct, coach, discipline, retrain or coordinate retraining within established guidelines
- Documents employee actions within established guidelines
- Works in cooperation with other managers and supervisors to ensure seamless, safe, high quality service to passengers
- Embraces Transdev’s safety vision; adopts and employs the company’s safety rules, policies, and procedures; effectively communicates safety and on time service expectations to drivers
- Assists in the investigation of passenger comments and other matters in close coordination with others
- Provide oral and written reports, statistics, data and information internally and externally
- Maintains complete confidentiality of all information

Qualifications:
Education, Licensing, and Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required
- CDL Class C, B or A license
Experience:
- Two years’ experience as a Driver or Supervisor for public transportation service
- Previous paratransit driving and supervision experience preferred
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Ability to drive paratransit vehicles
- Ability to apply progressive coaching and discipline consistently, timely and in accordance to management’s direction and the terms of collective bargaining agreements
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret transit system operating rules, regulations, policies, phases and routes
- Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to interact professionally with internal and external customers on all levels and be able to work well with diverse groups
· Must be able to take a leadership role in solving problems
· Must demonstrate satisfactory technical knowledge
· Must be able to pass an employment physical examination (pre-employment) and substance abuse
Travel requirement (as a percent): <5% for occasional meetings
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Must submit to drug testing and a criminal background check
- Must be able to maintain a DOT medical card
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work shifts or flexible work schedules indoors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities
- Periods of sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen in an office or in a cubicle space
- Periods of walking and standing outside during operations’ events
- Periods of sitting behind the wheel of a vehicle while driving
