The University of Colorado School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry has just welcomed their new Department Chair, C. Neill Epperson, MD and is in the process of growing the Department of Psychiatry with new programs and expanding existing programs.

Nature of Work
Psychiatric Midlevel providers employed by the University of Colorado to provide care to patients in the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo shall be responsible for diagnosing and treating patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders under the general supervision of or in collaboration with a staff psychiatrist.
While psychiatric providers are considered University of Colorado contract employees within the Colorado Mental Health Hospitals at Pueblo, they are expected to adhere to the rules, regulations, and training requirements of the Colorado Mental Health Hospitals at Pueblo as documented in their administrative regulations and clinical policies. Prior to beginning clinical work within the Colorado Mental Health Hospitals at Pueblo, psychiatric providers are expected to attend and complete any and all training requirements requested by the Training Academy, including a background investigation, urine drug screening, and completion of a self-defense course.
Please note, this is an open rank position and could be categorized as Senior Instructor or Senior Clinical instructor based on percentage of employment. A Senior Instructor is considered 100% to 50% employment, a Senior Clinical Instructor is 49% employment and below.
There may be an opportunity to work at additional clinical and/or research settings based on skillset and program needs. Additional clinics in this Division include: Colorado Mental Health Institute at Fort Logan, Colorado Department of Corrections, Forensic Program
Examples of Work Performed
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Provide psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Collect, organize and evaluate information from a variety of sources including the patient, family members, outpatient providers and other members of the treatment team.
- Prescribe medications as indicated and manage adverse reactions, effectively monitoring and changing treatment as needed.
- Provide input for clinical and administrative programming of the treatment unit(s).
- Remain up-to-date with documentation as described in CMHIP policy
- Communicate effectively with team members and other hospital staff
- Provide education to staff, medical students and other trainees (e.g. in lectures, clinical discussions, as preceptor or mentor) per contract with the University
- Serve on various committees to assist the hospital in its mission and goals.
- Participate in Peer Review activities
- Provide clinical coverage for colleagues as needed.
- Comply with the CMHIP Medical Staff Bylaws and the Medical Staff Rules & Regulations.
- Perform such other duties as may from time to time be reasonably requested by the Chief of Psychiatry or the ECMS.
- Maintain active clinical privileges in the CMHIP Medical Staff.
Salary Offered or Salary Range
The hiring rate (or budgeted rate) for this position has been established at:
Senior Instructor: $121,800
Senior Clinical Instructor: $121,800

Minimum Qualifications
Senior Instructor/ Clinical Senior Instructor
Current Colorado Advanced Practice Nurse License.
Preferred Qualifications
Background or previous training in psychiatry and/or longer term inpatient care.
