JOB TITLE: OFFICE/MEDIA SCHOOL ASSISTANT
JOB DESCRIPTION: The responsibilities of the school assistant will be a blend of responsibilities between working in the school office and the school library media center. The principal will determine the best plan to utilize the school assistant while serving both the school office and the library media center. In essence, the school assistant will “float” between the two areas, depending on which has the greatest need at the time.

SCHOOL OFFICE PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists School Secretary with the following duties:
- Performs the usual office routines and practices associated with a productive and smoothly-run office.
- Maintains such student records as shall be required.
- Maintains a regular filing system, and processes incoming correspondence as instructed.
- Obtains, gathers, and organizes pertinent data as needed, and puts it into usable form.
- Performs any bookkeeping tasks associated with the position.
- Orders and maintains supplies as needed.
- Assists teachers in preparing instructional materials as requested.
- Places and receives telephone calls, and records messages.
MEDIA CENTER PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists users with circulation and shelves returned materials.
- Orders, receives, and processes books selected for purchase by the library media specialist.
- Maintains publishers’ catalogs, student databases, and other appropriate files.
- Prints and delivers weekly notice to teachers concerning overdue books under the supervision of the library media specialist.
- Makes simple repairs on damaged books.
- Prepares current magazines for shelving and maintains the back-issue stacks.
- Assists in the annual inventory of library materials and the preparation of lists of missing books.
- Maintains current inventory of supplies and suggests items for acquisition as needed.
- Oversees the general neatness and attractiveness of the library and its displays.
- Maintains inventory and repair records for A-V Equipment, under the supervision of the library media specialist.
- Enters data for reports, bibliographies, forms, library schedules, letters and the like.
- Performs tasks and assumes responsibilities as the library media specialist and/or principal may assign from time to time.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- 195 days;
- 7.5 hours per day
- 1.030 pay ratio ratio
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of support personnel.
