Job description
The position of Office Clerk reports to the Data Control Supervisor and consists of maintaining records by calculating, posting, filing, and verifying information to obtain primary financial data for The Travelers Protective Association of America (TPA).
Responsibilities
- Ensuring proper procedure is adopted and all deadlines are met
- Reviewing all items processed by bookkeeping for correct entry and mathematical accuracy; identifying, reporting, and correcting discrepancies found
- Entering membership dues, interest on accounts, and receipts of sales by classifying, recording, and summarizing financial data using bookkeeping software
- Compiling of financial reports pertaining to matters such as cash receipts and expenditures
- Coding documents with proper account designations using the TPA chart of accounts and rate chart
- Complying with bookkeeping policies, procedures, and regulations
- Writing correspondence letters using mail merge
- Preparing bank deposits for all TPA fund accounts
- Maintaining electronic and hard copy filing records
- Processing payments for invoices and membership refunds
- Daily tracking of membership counts
- Answering incoming calls and transferring them to the appropriate party as necessary
- Responding to inquiries via phone, email, or mail pertaining to bookkeeping duties
- All other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization
Qualifications
- Bookkeeping or Accounting Experience: 3 Years or Equivalent Education (Required)
- Windows PC Computer: 3 Year (Required)
- Microsoft Office: 3 Year (Required)
- Accounting Software- QuickBooks or MIP/Sage: 1 Year (Preferred)
- Strong active listening and time management skills
- Proven track record of handling matters with discretion and confidentiality
- Ability to multi-task and refocus on prioritized duties
- Extremely detail-oriented with strong proof-reading skills
- Maintaining a high level of integrity and dependability to fulfill all job obligations
- Ability to work independently and within a team in a shared office environment
- Excellent telephone and communication skills
- General office machine use
Employment & Schedule
- Work Location: St. Charles, MO (100% On-Site, Non-Remote)
- 4-Day Week: Monday-Thursday, Closed on Friday
- Hours: 7:00a - 4:30p
- Full-Time, Non-Exempt Hourly Position
