We are looking for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team! As a COTA, you will be responsible for assisting our Registered Occupational Therapists in implementing and modifying treatment plans for patients referred for Occupational Therapy services. Your primary goal will be to help restore patient functioning and/or prevent disability following injury or disease.
You will work closely with patients and their families to help them achieve their maximum level of functioning while also learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. Additionally, you will collaborate with staff, patient families, and significant others prior to a patient's discharge.
As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will design, fabricate, and apply orthotic devices as needed under the supervision of an OTR. You will also instruct patients and their families in the application, care, and precautions of orthosis. Your ability to perform patient treatments as scheduled and maintain an adequate caseload of patients will ensure that our department productivity goals are met.
The ideal candidate will have a degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program, as well as a state license to practice as a COTA. Core Job Responsibilities
- Assist with restoration of patient functioning and / or prevention of disability following injury or disease
- Assist patients to reach their maximum level of functioning while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities
- Participates in operational aspects of the department CQI activities and organizational required programs
- Collaborates with patient, patient families, significant others and staff, prior to patient’s discharge
- Designs, fabricates, and applies orthotic devices as appropriate, under the supervision of the OTR
- Instructs patient and/or family in the application, care and precautions of orthosis 100% of the time, as audited by Occupational Therapy Supervisor, Director, through observation, review of documentation, and staff input
- Performs patient treatments as scheduled and maintains an adequate caseload of patients to ensure adequate department productivity, as measured in monthly departmental statistics
- Perform other duties as required
