This Business Services Professional will be operating as the Nutrition Obesity Research Center (NORC) Program Assistant. The Colorado NORC is an NIH funded center at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus that has facilitated translational research on nutrition and obesity in the Rocky Mountain region since its inception in 1995. The mission of the Colorado NORC is to advance the science of nutrition and obesity by facilitating interdisciplinary, collaborative, translational research and by fostering the development of the next generation of scientists in the Rocky Mountain region. The central theme of the Colorado NORC is the prevention and treatment of obesity and its metabolic complications across the lifespan, through better nutrition, lifestyle modifications, and medical treatments. The NORC supports its research base and trainees through three biomedical research cores, an enrichment program, and a pilot and feasibility program. The NORC Program Assistant will work closely with the NORC’s Director and executive team to carry out the center’s objectives.

Examples of Work Performed

Communications:

  • Coordinate and publish quarterly NORC newsletters
  • Maintain NORC Research Base, which can include collaborating with the website liaison for database updates
  • Manage and update Colorado NORC website and NORC central website
  • Coordinate necessary research base documentation for annual progress reports for the NORC
  • Assist with pre-award and post-award grant details as needed, including gathering information from NORC research base, and collating the content into excel sheets in preparation for NIH reporting requirements
  • Assist with grant renewals and progress reports as needed, including gathering information from members of the NORC research base and/or collaborators

Event Management:

  • Provide NORC administrative support, such as disseminating flyers, reserving room space, catering arrangements for the NORC’s executive team under the NORC grant for NORC related events and travel as needed
  • Organize and attend monthly and quarterly NORC Executive Meetings and NORC internal and external advisory board meetings, which can include reserving room space, catering arrangements, agenda development, schedule coordination, etc.
  • Provide scheduling support for NORC sponsored journal clubs and working groups, which can include schedule coordination, reserving room space, catering arrangements, etc.
  • Collaborate with junior faculty to plan and execute the annual NORC retreat
  • Assist with planning and executing additional NORC workshops (1 to 2 per year), including speaker travel and accommodations
  • Collaborate with the Grants and Contracts Coordinator to execute all phases of special events and projects related to the NORC institution recruitments and internal/external advisory board meetings

General Administrative Support:

  • Provide executive level administrative support to the NORC Director, maintaining calendars, planning and scheduling meetings, executing special projects as requested
  • Arranging and managing travel needs, completing travel authorizations and preparing travel expense reports in a timely manner and in adherence with university policy
  • Provide administrative support to special working groups including scheduling of meetings, compilation of meeting minutes, and the development of action plans under the direction of faculty/program leadership
  • Attend quarterly budget meetings to assist with notetaking and gain budget awareness
  • Coordinate attendance for training opportunities for NORC trainees

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $53,946.00 - $68,619.00 per year
