Job description
The purpose of this position is to provide nursing support to the Ambulatory Pediatric Clinics in the Pediatric Specialty Clinic. The responsibilities including providing direct patient care, facilitating flow of clinical activities, and a variety of treatments to the assigned patient population. The individual in this position will perform a variety of tasks with some detail, requiring general understanding and skill in the application of work procedures. Work assignments generally involve patients in stable condition. Work includes the reinforcement of routine patient teaching and may include participation in orientation of students and other staff of the unit, procedures, and/or the function of the nursing assistant. All work is performed under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician. The person in this position will float to different clinics within the Department of Pediatrics. Employee must possess: considerable knowledge of basic medical terminology and human anatomy; ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of complex therapeutic procedures; and ability to make accurate physical observations of patients.

The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University is affiliated with ECU Health Medical Center, which serves as it’s teaching hospital, as well as the flagship hospital for ECU Health.
Minimum Education/Experience
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require registration as a Nurse Aide by the North Carolina Board of Nursing, or certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA.)
License or Certification required by statute or regulation
Depending on candidate qualifications, one of the following will be required:
- Contributing: Registered NAI through the NC Department of Health Human Services
- Journey: Registered NAII through the NC Board of Nursing
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Some experience with pediatric related patients is preferred.
License or Certification required by the Department
