For those states requiring a physician collaborative agreement, the NP or PA will need a collaborative agreement provider in place that can be used for the care. For those states where a collaborative agreement is not required, the NP or PA must qualify to provide care independently in their local state.
This role will directly support the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in conducting assessments for determination of disability benefits for Veterans applying for benefits from the VA. The Mid-Level Provider or Provider will perform an in-person visit with the Veterans to perform evaluations to complete the required Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ) for submission to VA for eligibility determination. DBQs include questions that require direct clinical exam of the Veteran in the office (e.g., testing range of motion of joints, documentation of crepitus, etc.) which cannot be done via virtual encounter. This effort will decrease a backlog of overdue assessments and to assist VA with adequately determining Veteran benefits. These assessments will be conducted in a variety of assigned and agreed upon locations with set schedules.
This role requires excellent and expeditious assessment skills. In some cases, additional testing will be required which may require local assistance and coordination. Ideal candidates have a proven track record of high reliability working in a very independent atmosphere with little oversight. We value compassionate care of this unique population.
1. Hours: This role is part-time with flexibility around which days are selected for the schedule. Potential applicants for benefits will be scheduled in advance based on mutually agreeable schedule.
2. Position Location: Listing of available placement sites across the nation. The select assignment will be positioned in one of the many locations available. Selected candidates may select multiple sites near one another.
Duties include the following.
1. Prepare for and deliver exceptional patient handling and care during all interactions
2. Complete and submit all required documentation timely and completely, including DBQs in the required format
3. Provide delivery and operational excellence by delivering exceptional service, working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, embracing change with agility and adaptability, and maintaining accountabilities for all assigned commitments
4. Demonstrate leadership qualities by developing and pursuing ongoing career development goals, and providing knowledge transfer of applicable learning to organization team members
5. Apply clinical skills to include data gathering and analysis, communications with an emphasis on relationship development and growth, demonstration and application of knowledge and expertise in specialized areas
Education/Experience:
- Current and uninterrupted licensure: Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant
- Experience with providing care for the Veteran population is preferred
- Experience working with or for VA or supporting federal healthcare clients/organizations is preferred
Technological Skills:
- Experienced in one or more major Electronic Health Records
- Experience with electronic healthcare records design and use of patient experience solutions
