Intake Nurse (RN) Opportunity

13-week temporary assignment

Night shift: 12-hour shifts - 7pm - 7:30am (rotating weekends)

Salary: $70.00 per hour

The new Clive Behavioral Health is a partnership of MercyOne and Universal Health Services (UHS) to address the growing, unmet need for accessible, high-quality and advanced behavioral health services in Central Iowa and the surrounding region. Clive Behavioral Health is located at 1450 NW 114th Street in Clive, across from the MercyOne Clive Health Plaza and MercyOne Rehabilitation Hospital. Our new 100-bed state-of-the-art facility spans more than 83,000 square-feet, and features a full continuum of inpatient services for adults and in summer 2021, units will open to serve children and adolescents. Specialty programs for adults with co-occurring behavioral health and substance use issues will be offered to meet the unique needs of this patient population. In addition, the facility will offer robust outpatient programs to address the most prevalent behavioral health concerns, including child, adolescent and family counseling; and treatment for depression, anxiety disorders and other common behavioral health issues.

Position Summary:

Intake Nurse (RN) is responsible for the timely processing of inquiry and referral calls. Responsible for coordination of all admissions processes and serves as liaison to referral sources, families, payors, physicians, unit and hospital personnel involved with each admission. Verify insurance, triage patients, complete assessments, ability to staff clinical effectively, enter calls and admissions in computer and complete all admission paperwork with patient. Effectively communicate with unit staff and assist patient to unit. Pre-cert with payor source. Follow hospital’s policies and procedures regarding admissions.

Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of accredited School of Nursing; Bachelor Degree preferred

Experience: 1-3 years of experience preferred in psychiatric health care.

Licensure/Certification: Licensure as a Registered Nurse in state of Iowa.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Excellent communication skills, i.e., verbal and written. Ability to prioritize; work well under periods of high stress and pressure. Ability to multi-task and demonstrate critical thinking skills. Demonstrates an understanding of funding entities. Thorough knowledge of psychiatric services provided by the hospital. Ability to work flexible hours. Requires a basic understanding of computers; and accurate data entry skills. Knowledge of insurance contracts and payors. Knowledge of precertification for inpatient hospitalization. Experience gathering and documenting medical and clinical information to assess and staff appropriately with physician. Ability to triage for medical and psychiatric needs. Working knowledge of DSM-V diagnostic criteria, mental status exam, and addiction and recovery field.
