Our team at Perry Nuclear Power Plant is seeking qualified talent to join our team as a Nuclear Mechanical Maintenance Engineer in North Perry, OH. Perry Nuclear Power Plant sits on Lake Erie in North Perry, Ohio, which is 35 miles east of Cleveland. This Boiling Water Reactor unit generates enough electricity to power more than 1 million homes daily and is one of the largest BWRs in the US. The National Institute of Urban Wildlife has certified the Perry Plant site as an Urban Wildlife Sanctuary. More than 850 acres of natural forests and marshes provide diverse habitat for area wildlife.
As a Nuclear Mechanical Maintenance Engineer your responsibilities will be to:
Champion equipment reliability for assigned plant systems.- System matter expert for Air Operated Valves and ventilation equipment.
- Perform field walkdowns and inspections of plant equipment.
- Establish and revise predictive and preventative maintenance tasks.
- Lead the development of solutions to system issues in support of plant operations and maintenance.
- Advocate for system maintenance and design changes through applicable station committees and processes.
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders to resolve emergent and routine plant issues.
- Support problem solving and decision-making teams and simple troubleshooting efforts.
- Support problem identification and resolution in accordance with the corrective action program.
- Perform failure modes analyses and equipment failure analysis checklists.
- Support emergent plant outages and scheduled refueling outages.
- Provide oversight of vendor activities.
- Interface with regulatory, industry, and internal oversight agencies.
- Determine applicability of industry Operating Experience and incorporate into site processes, as appropriate.
- Review schedules and work orders to ensure accurate and efficient work implementation.
- Support industry working groups and industry driven equipment reliability initiatives.
- Complete periodic site, industry, and regulatory performance indicators.
- Perform Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties as assigned.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering Discipline (Mechanical preferred) from an ABET-accredited institution required
- Related experience in Mechanical Engineering or Turbines or large rotating equipment preferred
- Demonstrated questioning attitude to continue to learn, product results and strengthen relationships
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with all employees
- Delivery of quality, accurate work within established deadlines
- Good technical writing skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to make formal technical presentations to various levels of management
- Reside within site-specific ERO Response time
