The UChicago Charter School's North Kenwood/Oakland campus is named after and located at the juncture of the South Side neighborhoods of North Kenwood and Oakland, historic communities formed by African Americans and others seeking a better life, including high quality educational opportunities for their children. Position Summary:
The NKO Assistant Director is responsible for maintaining a balanced equation amongst administration, teachers, students, and parents to achieve academic excellence. In addition, the NKO Assistant Director will assist campus leadership, teachers and parents in recognizing the importance of each to the goal of achieving success for our students, community, and the world. The NKO Assistant Director establishes protocols and effective systems to support the achievement of the goals.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in a core subject area such as Mathematics or English required.
• Master's Degree preferred.
• Five years of urban teaching experience required.
• Previous management or supervisory experience in an education environment required.
• Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and interact well with students, teachers and parents.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to build teams and collaborations is required.
• Outstanding multi-tasking and research abilities required.
• Extensive knowledge in core curriculum areas required.
• Must be a seeker of new knowledge and methods that will improve the overall performance of students and staff.
