Job description
The Butler Radio Network is seeking an individual to supplement its news gathering and reporting staff. The individual must be able to work with minimum supervision and have the ability to function independently in the broadcast facility. This is an entry-level position that will report to the network’s news director and be expected to work cooperatively with the entire staff – including sales, on-air, and management.The anticipated opening will require the successful applicant to be able to gather, write, and produce news both on-air and online in the organization’s websites. Responsibilities will also include the ability to operate in any of our three radio stations on-air and production studios, as well as conduct on-air interviews.
The individual would be responsible for the daily writing and publication of the Butler Radio News Sheet.
It may also require one day per weekend morning shift.
Excellent communication skills – verbal and written – are an absolute must. A working understanding of radio station operations and news gathering techniques is also a necessity. Additional skills that would be beneficial include an understanding of the technical operations of a broadcast facility.
A successful candidate would also be proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite, Wordpress, and Microsoft Suite.
Typical hours: 7 a.m. - 3p.m. (could vary depending on day.)
