News Editor

The Bitterroot Star is seeking a News Editor to join our team based in Stevensville, Montana. The Star is a weekly community newspaper with most content generated locally through the use of local freelance reporters.

The Bitterroot Star offers a flexible work environment and we are willing to tailor the News Editor position for the right candidate. This is typically a full-time position, but duties can be rearranged or reassigned to allow for this to become a part-time or contract position if desired.

Duties/Skills

Manage Freelance writers and photographers

Write three to four stories a week

Design newspaper pages using InDesign

Work cooperatively with Editors at Philipsburg Mail and Silver State Post

Schedule and complete editorial special sections

Maintain an active presence in the community and regularly attend Bitterroot Valley events

Photography skills required

The Bitterroot Star is a family-owned newspaper and part of the Mullen Newspaper Company founded and based in Deer Lodge, Montana.
