2023 Work Dates & Hours:
This is a full-time summer position lasting 10 weeks.
Work Dates: June 12 – August 18, Monday – Friday
Work Hours: Approximately 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Company Description: Camp Kinneret Summer Day Camp is entering its 69th summer providing children ages 4 – 14 with a classic outdoor summer day camp experience. Our child-centered program strives to build a supportive community that nurtures positive growth and development by building relationships through shared experiences at camp.
Position Description: The Naturalist/Wilderness Play Facilitator assists groups in our on-site wilderness play program. Wilderness Play at camp involves unstructured, imaginative outdoor play for 3rd graders and up. Campers spend time with their peers exploring and creating in our camp “wilderness” and are encouraged to use natural elements to build a world for themselves and their peers.
Position Qualifications: College-aged or older. Must be certified or willing to become certified in ARC or equivalent Adult & Child 1st Aid and CPR. A desire to work outdoors in a natural setting is crucial, and an interest in local ecology, plant, and animal life is a plus.
Transportation: Staff ride the bus to camp each day with their campers. Buses leave from North Hollywood, Sherman Oaks, Encino, Tarzana, Woodland Hills, Calabasas, West Hills, Agoura, Westlake, Thousand Oaks, Moorpark, Simi Valley, and Newbury Park. If your home is within 30 minutes of any of these locations, you can easily be a part of our program this summer.
Salary: Salaries vary based on position and previous experience. The range for a first-year staff person is approximately $5,300 – $7,000 for a 10-week summer.
Application Process & Deadlines: Applicants fill out an online application and then attend a Group Interview (Group Interviews begin January 19th). Select applicants are invited to return for an individual interview with a director.
