STRIVE is a national leader with a mission to provide pathways to life-changing careers and opportunities through comprehensive professional training, intensive personal support, and self-empowerment for those who face societal barriers to advancement. STRIVE operates in New York City, Atlanta and through licensed partners in cities across the country. STRIVE embarked on an ambitious growth plan to expand our impact in current and new cities, naming Birmingham, Alabama as the newest location in 2022.
SUMMARY
STRIVE Future Leaders, a national initiative funded by the US Department of Labor (USDOL) to engage young adults impacted by the justice system to succeed in education and careers. The National Director of Young Adult Programs will monitor and oversee the implementation of sub-grants and facilitate services that will make a significant difference in young adult participants' lives and long-term employment prospects.
The Director of Young Adult Programs is responsible for the Future Leaders' strategic direction, building and maintaining program partnerships, managing the STRIVE network of partners, and is accountable for all program goals and outcomes. This position helps advance STRIVE's commitment to young adult populations by offering career opportunities while building economic and climate resilience for priority communities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Implementation:
- Ensures sound implementation of STRIVE Future Leaders direct service programs with attention to the unique needs of young people of color (namely Black and Latin X young adults) in the face of the current socio-economic climate and movement.
- Oversee overall program recruitment, facilitation, youth engagement, and youth retention over the program implementation.
- Ensure that STRIVE Future Leaders' proprietary young adult curricula are implemented with fidelity across the partner network. The National Director of Young Adult Programs will document implementation practices and oversee that the curricula are iterated overtime.
- Ensure that program narratives are translated to staff across the organization.
Program, Evaluation, and Administration:
- Capture weekly, monthly, and quarterly data on program success.
- Informed by the practitioner network, tell the story of program outputs appropriate for Campaigns, Development, and Executive staff.
- Ensure all administrative functions to run programs are intact and aligned with STRIVE's Program Impact & Innovation team's requirements.
- Support delivery of programs in both a remote and in-person environment via on-site audits completed by STRIVE's Program Impact & Innovation team.
Young Adult Practitioner Community of Practice:
- Codify STRIVE's commitment to racially equitable workforce outcomes and positive youth development in alignment with the organization's theory of change.
- Support the professional development of young adult practitioners monthly and quarterly via content-specific webinars and annual in-person convenings.
- Coordinate training for dedicated young adult practitioners and broader STRIVE staff focused on best practices in service delivery, training, education, young adult workforce trends, and other relevant topics.
- Serve as part of informal and formal Young Adult Council for program participants as new needs emerge.
Other Duties:
- Research funding opportunities and support submission of grant proposals for the STRIVE affiliate network to sustain the program or similar affiliate-wide initiatives in the future.
- Working collaboratively with the STRIVE's Program Impact & Innovation team staff during the program planning and implementation phases.
- Support STRIVE finance team in contracting, invoicing, and reporting
- Other special projects as assigned.
Qualifications, Education, and Experience:
- Master's degree preferred, Bachelor's degree required.
- Must have a minimum of three to five years of work experience in program/grant management. Previous experience managing a pass-through award to multiple sites preferred.
- Professional experience with the re-entry of ex-offenders or youth development required. Must have knowledge of and experience with criminal justice systems, programs, and issues. Relevant life experience will also be taken into consideration.
- Must have strong time and project management skills.
- The ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of public and nonprofit partners is a must. Excellent interpersonal skills required.
- Must have outstanding communication and writing skills; solid proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Regular travel is required. This position is based in NYC.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
