Job description
Benefits include: a comprehensive benefit plan, Montana State retirement plan (TRS), overtime eligible, PLUS 8-days holiday pay, 15-days paid vacation, 12-days sick leave and 2 personal days to start. All benefits are prorated based on .60 FTE.
Salary: $13.40-$14.92, DOE.

Objective: The Music Assistant assists a certified teacher in the supervision and instruction of students and provides instructional and organizational support to music department teachers and staff.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provides music accompaniment to students and staff.
- Assists the music department staff with a variety of tasks such as preparing instructional materials, running music sectional and administering musical assessments.
- Assists in coordination of music department events.
- Maintains student music and financial records.
- Maintains the music library.
- Prepares music programs, letters, and forms.
- Meets the diverse needs of students in the classroom by supporting an appropriate learning environment.
- Participates in school and district professional development activities.
- Maintains cooperative and collaborative relationships with teachers, administrators, students, and parents.
- Takes appropriate action in the event of an emergency.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to proficiently provide required musical accompaniment.
- Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
- Ability to operate computers and spreadsheet, database, and word processing software.
- Skill in arithmetic, grammar, spelling, recording and compiling material for reports.
- Skill in record keeping.
- Ability to maintain effective professional relationships with staff, students, and parents.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Skill, dedication, and aptitude for working with students.
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to maintain student confidentiality.
- Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent; OR,
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with students in an educational setting.
- Experience in piano accompaniment.
- Post high school training in the field of music and/or music theory.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time, stoop, bend, lift and carry items up to 40 pounds.
