Summary of Job Description
As a Mobile Service Technician with Hughes Fire Equipment, Inc. an employee will be required to perform repair work on-site or by traveling to assigned site locations. The employee must be able to conduct themselves professionally in stressful situations. The employee will troubleshoot problems specializing in emergency equipment. Our team of specialized mechanics take pride in what they do.
Essential Functions
· Performs routine maintenance and repairs on fire and ems apparatus and equipment
· Works with chassis, electrical, multiplex, hydraulic, water pumps, foam, and aerial systems, with an emphasis on electrical.
· Works in the shop and travels to customer locations
· Minor fabrication abilities
· Documents all repairs in business management system
· Communicates with manufacturers via email and phone to troubleshoot systems
· Communicates with customers and end users to resolve problems
· Works as part of a team to solve complex technical problems.
· Requires CDL (or ability to obtain) in order to test drive or transport customer vehicles
Secondary Functions
· Communicate verbally with co-workers and staff to keep a safe working environment
· Follow written and verbal instructions to complete tasks
· Lift light and/or heavy parts on and off a cart, floor, shelf, etc.
· Operate a forklift/hoist for heavy lifting
· Perform drilling, sanding, grinding, and buffing of parts
· Perform gluing, taping, filing, screwing, tightening, and clamping of parts
· Operate hand and power tools
· Build and assemble subparts for the next assembly process
· Check fluids, fuel systems, batteries, and other specific parts/equipment
· Apply measurement for proper alignment and attachment of parts together
· Read and interpret blueprints
· Check and review check lists, work orders, and schedules
· Assist co-workers with lifting parts
· Recognize the differences in parts and tools
Basic Qualifications
· High School Diploma or equivalent education
· Previous experience with basic hand tools
· 5+ Years Experience on Diesel Trucks or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications to complete Essential Functions
· Experience within a manufacturing or operational environment
· Two or more years of mechanical and assembly experience
· Technical or Associate’s degree in a relevant Technician or Technology program or equivalent education and/or mechanical training
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand and walk over 50% of work time. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
