Warren-Walker School (WWS) is seeking a collaborative and visionary middle school teacher to join our team. WWS is a private school located in the Mission Valley area of San Diego. We are seeking a well rounded candidate who will teach, mentor, and coach adolescent youths. The primary responsibility will be teaching 7th and 8th grade English by developing lesson plans, evaluating student progress effectively through a variety of assessments, differentiating instruction, demonstrating an ability to motivate students, and maintain an atmosphere conducive to student learning.

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to integrate technology into the curriculum. As a team member, you would be expected to work cooperatively with the administration and your colleagues as well as the support staff. You would be expected to demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships with both students and their parents. Other professional responsibilities include maintaining a professional manner in the classroom, demonstrating a sense of professional responsibility, and actively participating in professional growth opportunities.

Qualified candidates will ideally have:

• Minimum of 3-5 years classroom teaching experience (other youth work experience can apply)
• B.A. or credential in English
• Teaching credential a plus but not mandatory
• Strong writing skills and a passionate commitment to English
• Enthusiasm for reading and inspiring young readers
• Proven ability to work in middle school age setting and a desire to work with all types of learners
• Understanding of Google Classroom and suite of other products
• Effective collaborator with peers
• Interdisciplinary approach to teaching
• Willingness to participate in co-curricular activities such as coaching athletics, clubs, attending camp and education trips
• Strongly connected to WWS Mission and Values
• Proven ability to mentor youth
• Strong ability to communicate effectively with parents
