Job Description and Qualifications

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE: APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, is seeking an experienced Microbulk Project Specialist in the south region.

The MB Project Specialist is the lead coordinator for the installation of Air Products Microbulk cryogenic supply systems. The Microbulk business is a fast paced and customer-focused business with focus on speed and simplicity. Projects will involve the design, installation, and troubleshooting of small liquid bulk systems at customer facilities. Deliverable products include Liquid Nitrogen, Oxygen, Argon, and Carbon Dioxide. Typical projects run under 2-5 weeks and the Project Specialist can expect to complete up to 15 projects in a single month with just as many on going at any given time. Project prioritization of workload and effective communication with the team is critical.

Specific Project Specialist responsibilities and qualifications include:

  • Handling multiple projects simultaneously, being responsible for safety, speed, and costs
  • Communicate and coordinate with Sales and Customers to develop project scope
  • Establish a Project Budget based on the system specifications
  • Create Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) for Installations using drafting software
  • Order materials and tanks/equipment for installations
  • Coordinate forktruck or cranes to offload equipment
  • Document all project variances, scope changes, and quality issues
  • Support troubleshooting requirements at customer sites as needed
  • Communicate with internal and external partners, both locally and remotely.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Familiarity with cryogenic and gas delivery concepts preferred but not required
  • Flexible, Independent, self-motivated individual, able to multi-task, highly organized, detail oriented
  • 2 years of College (Associates Degree) or higher preferred
  • Experience participating or leading improvement projects
  • Ability to quickly learn basic mechanical systems and piping design
  • Excellent communication skills; organization, technical writing, phone etiquette and email
  • Ability to learn and use multiple in-house software
  • Some travel is required for training and on the job development
