PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Manager of Data Analytics leads the design, development and execution of innovative analytic solutions to support the planning, implementation and evaluation of ComEd's Energy Efficiency portfolio. The position is highly analytical and will require the individual to blend the application of business, strategic, and design thinking with mathematics and technology to enable better data informed decision making. This position will be responsible for managing, leading, and training a team of data analysts and data scientists in the use of data analysis, data visualization, and statistical modeling technologies. This position will also have responsibility over defining and executing the department's analytics strategy, supporting ad-hoc analytics, and overall accountability for the management of ComEd Energy Efficiency's data tracking and analytics platform infrastructure, including managing infrastructure, maintenance and software licensing budgets. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead in the development/management of an operating model/associated infrastructure which will move ComEd Energy Efficiency to an analytics-driven operation that leverages data visualization, advanced analytics and big data to deliver on key business operational and strategic initiatives. (50%)
- Train, support, lead, and manage the ComEd Energy Efficiency Data group to be an analytical 'think tank' in terms of performing deep dive analysis on potential opportunity areas, reviewing information and formulating potential actionable tasks to address, and then performing related follow-up analysis and tracking of progress. (30%)
- Oversee management of the ComEd Energy Efficiency data analytics platform infrastructure, including managing infrastructure, maintenance and software licensing budgets. (10%)
- Manage, lead or support special projects as needed. (10%)
JOB SCOPE
- Lead the Data Group within the ComEd Energy Efficiency department. This includes overall responsibility for personnel, business process and performance of the group.
- Direct and manage personnel in the Data Group. Size of group ranges as follows:
- Direct 4-6
- Contractor 1-3
- Position will report to the Manager, Energy Efficiency Planning and Measurement.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's Degree required in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics (or with a similar technical or computational emphasis)
- 7-10 years in compiling, analyzing and visualizing data
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and design thinking skills
- Proven ability to manage and conduct data analysis, extrapolate and integrate the data, draw conclusions, and provide clear, concise, actionable information. Proven ability to apply findings to both strategic and tactical business objectives and resilient in changing or uncertain situations
- Decision Scientist who is highly analytical and blends the application of business, strategic and design thinking with mathematics and technology to enable better decision making.
- Ability to translate data analysis and findings into coherent conclusions and actionable recommendations to executives
- Ability to translate executive vision and guidance into methods and analytics.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong project management and administration skills
- Highly collaborative
- Experience leading projects/people
- Good technical skills, including, strong proficiency in relational database query languages such as SQL
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's Degree or PhD Preferred
- Analytics tools: ACL, SQL, SSIS, Tableau, R
- Professional accreditation: CFE, CISA
- Proven experience leading a team of 3 or more individuals
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience
