Snowy Peak Community Services is seeking a qualified Mental Health Practitioner to join our Western Nebraska team. We are a community-based organization focused on helping make the world around us a better, happier place. The goal of our services is to promote child safety, permanency and family prosperity/well-being through fortifying family functioning. Our team is dedicated to enhancing the lives of those it serves by meeting the comprehensive needs of individuals, families and their community. As a Mental Health Practitioner, you will work to protect and assist the community’s most vulnerable populations from abuse and neglect and help build strong functional families. These services are provided in the family's home or a community-based setting. The focus of our services is IFP (Intensive Family Preservation) and IFR (Intensive Family Reunification).

Part-time or Full-time positions available. Work hours are flexible and may involve some nights and weekends as determined on a case by case basis.

Job Duties:

  • Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients' treatment.
  • Encourage clients to express their feelings and discuss what is happening in their lives and help them to develop insight into themselves and their relationships.
  • Guide clients in the development of skills and strategies for dealing with their problems.
  • Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports.
  • Counsel clients and patients, individually and in group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, and making changes.
  • Collect information about clients through interviews, observation, and tests.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans.
  • Evaluate clients' physical or mental condition based on review of client information.
  • Meet with families, probation officers, police, and other interested parties in order to exchange necessary information during the treatment process.
  • Refer patients, clients, or family members to community resources or to specialists as necessary.
  • Learn about new developments in their field by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, and establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies. ·
  • Discuss with individual patients their plans for life after leaving therapy.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Education/Experience Requirements:

Any Therapist providing this service must either be a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner, or a provisionally Licensed Mental Health Practitioner under the supervision of a fully Licensed Mental Health Practitioner. May also consider individuals who are Master’s Degree Level in Counseling and/or Social work, and have completed all of the required classes but are currently obtaining internship hours with the Contractor. Interns must be supervised by a fully Licensed Mental Health Practitioner.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Proficient use of technology (includes smart phones, computers, and time card systems)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This includes written and verbal communication and strong listening skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team. Must demonstrate a team building attitude and skill set.
  • Demonstrates the ability to problem solve and make decisions in the best interest of the family and agency
  • Must pass required background checks and have a valid Nebraska driver’s license free of serious driving related offenses
  • Must have access to a reliable vehicle and carry minimum requirements of auto insurance
  • Applicant must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to present valid documentation showing eligibility for employment in the United States
  • Must have the ability to pass physical examinations in accordance with state regulations and drug testing if required and must not have a history of child abuse or neglect
