Medical Billing Specialist
Family Focus, Inc. is a well-established private practice experienced in treating a wide variety of problems in children, adolescents, and adults. We are seeking a qualified and dedicated full-time Medical Billing Specialist to join our supportive, warm, and welcoming administrative team.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Medical Billing Specialists primary responsibility is to oversee all Accounts Receivable and ensure patient accounts are properly billed and that payments are received and processed in a timely manner. This position may be required to perform other administrative duties as needed.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Regularly review and understand payer policies.
- Ensure patient medical information is accurate and up to date
- Review and submit clean claims to insurance.
- Accurately post payments to patient ledgers
- Collect patient copays, deductibles, or coinsurance.
- Investigate, appeal, and resolve denied claims or unpaid claims
- Effectively communicate with insurance companies, providers, staff, clients, and outside collections as needed to resolve patient balances.
- Assisting clients in developing payment plans
- Ensure we achieve maximum reimbursement for services provided.
- Run various reports as requested.
- Conduct duties in a professional and timely manner.
- Answer billing and coding questions as needed.
- Implement process and procedures as needed.
- Assist with special projects, or administrative back up, as assigned and or as needed
- Perform other office related duties as needed as assigned by Practice Manager
Experience:
- Medical billing – 2 years (Preferred)
- ICD-10 – 2 years (Preferred)
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of medical office protocols and procedures
- Knowledge of EMR and medical documentation
- Knowledge of HIPAA
- Knowledge of medical insurance
- Familiar with Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial insurance plans
- Experience with denial and appeal processes
- Ability to review and interpret EOBs and reason codes
- Professional communication skills
Skills:
- Must be dependable and punctual
- Skill in using Windows computer software (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Skill in using EMR systems
- Creative problem-solving skills
Abilities:
- Ability to effectively and clearly communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to manage time effectively in order to plan, prioritize and complete daily tasks
- Ability to learn and adapt to new environments and procedures quickly
- Ability to receive direction and learn
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and be highly organized
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, caregivers, providers, employees, and those outside of the practice such as referring physicians, etc.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
