Medical Assistant/Receptionist Role at Dermatology Practice
Job description
**Must speak Spanish to be considered for the following role**
Performs a wide variety of patient care activities and accommodation services for patients and staff. Provides assistance to physicians and other assigned providers. As appropriate and necessary, provides back up for other staff members.
Experience: Prior healthcare experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Perform clinical duties under supervision of the clinical manager
- Perform reception/clerical functions as directed by supervisor.
- Maintain awareness of facility activities and policies and procedures.
- Room and prepare patients for various types of procedures, giving necessary instruction and keeping schedules flowing smoothly. Perform vitals per office policy.
- Assist patients with disrobing and dressing; performing chaperone role when necessary.
- Educate patients as directed by physician or provider, including using take-home instruction sheet when applicable.
- Perform other clinical duties including
- Setting up surgery room in preparation for procedures
- Assist provider in laser surgery and cosmetic procedures
- Assuring cleanliness and orderliness of examination rooms
- Restocking rooms and supplies
- Checking equipment for proper functioning
- Perform housekeeping duties necessary to the efficient management of the practice
- Perform central supply/autoclave/infection control procedures including
- Keep work room and sterilizing room clean and tidy on a daily basis.
- Clean all instruments and equipment used in surgery in a manner accepted by recognized standards of practice.
- Upon instruction, assemble instrument sets completely and accurately.
- Wrap instruments and supplies in a manner appropriate to sterilization and use.
- Load sterilizer appropriately, pursuant to manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Be familiar with the operation, cleaning and testing of all sterilizing equipment, including proper documentation in logbooks.
- Unload and store supplies and instruments from sterilizer.
- Prepare extra supplies as requested by nursing staff and to maintain level of sterile supplies, appropriate to procedure schedule.
- Notify appropriate personnel of problems related to sterilization and supply of packs available for use.
- Check refrigerator thermometer and log temperature; if temperature exceeds therapeutic parameters, notify nursing staff and implement corrective mechanism.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
