Job Overview


The Mechanical Engineering Drafter is part of the design and fulfillment team that delivers KORE engineered solutions. A Successful candidate can look forward to a fast paced, diverse work environment providing drafting support for the mechanical engineering team to complete detailed engineering drawing packages.


Work is based out of our Waterbury, Vermont office.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities


  • Utilizes Solidworks and DraftSight drafting software to design and develop equipment integration drawings, general arrangement drawings, fabrication drawings, and site layouts.
  • Develops and reviews mechanical designs with Engineers and provides equipment installation drawings for the purpose of manufacturing.
  • Works with Engineers to implement the design and ensure proper operation of final assembly.
  • Communicates and resolves design issues with the Engineers, Production team, Field Service Technicians, and third-party vendors.
  • Works with the Engineering team to develop project bill of materials, obtaining input from third parties such as component vendors, construction contractors, and permitting authorities.
  • Maintains current inventory of drawings and specifications for individual components and assembly drawings.
  • Collaborates with engineers, production, and field engineers to support installation, operation, and maintenance of systems.
  • Interprets and ensures conformance to applicable drawing standards, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Assembles documentation packages and produces drawing sets which are checked by an engineer.
  • Explains drawings to production teams and provide adjustments as necessary.
  • Exhibits strong multi-tasking skill set to support simultaneous ongoing Engineering and company projects.
  • Maintain flexibility to provide additional support based on individual project needs as requested or required.
  • Work independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Maintains Solidworks PDM Vault and acts as primary administrator
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Reports To

The position will report directly to the Manager of Mechanical Engineering.

  • Demonstrates passion and responsibility for the company and product.
  • Desire to own decisions and take responsibility for outcomes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on the ability to organize and maintain standardization.
  • Ability to shift priorities on an as-needed basis.
  • Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks, Draftsight, or similar.
  • Experience with Solidworks PDM in an administrative position
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly.
  • Must be self-motivated and a great team worker.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a drafting position


Physical Requirements


  • Hearing and vision within normal ranges, with or without corrective lenses or an assisted hearing device.
  • Some lifting is expected; occasional exertion of up to 50 lbs. of force may be required.
  • Good manual dexterity is required for the use of computers, mobile devices, and other technologies.
  • The job is primarily performed indoors in a traditional office setting. Extended periods of sitting and extensive work at a computer and phone are expected.
