Math Elective Teacher – Kindergarten through Eighth Grades

SC certified or mathematics background

Job Goal: The Math Elective Teacher is responsible for promoting student achievement in the area of Mathematics. The Math Elective Teacher provides whole class instruction to students through music, movement and problem solving activities. This position is also responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance.

Contract: 190 day contract

Reports to: Under the general direction of the school level Principal and Assistant Principal

Desired Qualifications

• Teacher Certification or mathematics background
• Teaching experience
• Ability to incorporate state dept. support documents, standards, and data reviews for mathematics with rigor
• Ability to interpret and utilize the MAP Learning Continuum
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to apply instructional strategies on differentiation
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to multitask needs between multiple grade levels and instructional levels
• Knowledge of collaboration practices, team teaching practices, and special education
• Ability to collect data
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with school administrators, staff, students, and families
• Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of student and staff information

• Provides high quality mathematics instruction to students to motivate and extend their learning.
• Uses a variety of hands-on and virtual activities and manipulatives to support content standards and the needs and capabilities of students.
