South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) seeks student Work Study applicants for the position of Percy The Kraken (SPSCC Mascot). Applicants must commit to being available September 1st through June 21st of the 2021-2022 academic year.
*South Puget Sound Community College will be a “fully vaccinated campus” under the state’s higher education guidance. Proof of fully vaccinated status must be verified before your first day of work. Schedule Information: 10 hours a week as Percy the Kraken mascot and related functions within SPSCC Student Life. Shift times will vary based on events. Can work around class schedules.
Educational Benefit: Gain skills as a performer and mascot, as well as growth from a student leadership position on campus.
Performing as Percy the Kraken is a Student Life leadership position aimed at inspiring and growing school spirit as the lovable mascot of SPSCC. This position is tasked with performing mascot duties during athletic games, appearing at campus and community functions, and maintaining the larger-than-life spirit of Percy the Kraken to generate excitement, promote the SPSCC Clippers, and build school spirit!
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Hours: 10 – 15 hours per week
- Work Study Eligible
- When performing as Percy, you will need to be comfortable with sitting, standing, walking, squatting, bending, twisting, kneeling, climbing, lifting up to 25 pounds, and other physical tasks, while wearing the mascot costume.

1. Check your Financial Aid (FA) Award on the FA Portal to verify if you have been offered Work Study. If you were not offered work study but would like to see if you are eligible, see the One Stop in Building 22.
2. Request a Work Study Authorization Form from Student Employment by emailing studentemployment@spscc.edu.
Please include the following in your email:
a. Subject line: "Work Study Authorization Form Request"
b. In the body of the email include: Full Name/Preferred Name, Student ID Number (SID) and Program of Study
(Please allow two business days for processing. You will receive an authorization via email from Student Employment.)
If selected for an interview bring your completed Work Study Authorization form with you to the interview.
Applications must be completed online and include the following attachments:
a. Cover letter addressed to the Screening Committee highlighting your ability to perform the responsibilities and competencies described in the job posting.
b. Current resume showing all educational and professional experience which demonstrates how you meet the minimum and any preferred qualifications.
