Job Summary
The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and implementation of DBCR's communications efforts across a broad spectrum of platforms.
S/he will be responsible for supporting the Admissions, College Counseling, Academics, Athletics and Student Life. S/he will work closely with the President, the VP of Advancement, Director of Recruitment and Enrollment, the College Counseling Team, the Academics team and the Athletics and Student Life departments to advance DBCR's position with relevant constituents, as well as to drive broader awareness using varied and integrated communications products and services.
S/he will be responsible for managing and overseeing all social media channels, working with other departments to actively showcase and promote the school while ensuring consistency of message and branding. S/he will also be responsible for social media content and creation, including managing the President’s social media as it pertains to DBCR. This position is responsible for supporting media pitches, photography/videography in his/her service line areas. S/he will be supporting the website efforts and working with the board’s marketing committee.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Communications and Marketing
· Work closely with the Director of Recruitment and Enrollment and the admissions department to create and execute a strong marketing plan for recruitment and enrollment. This includes benchmarking with other Cristo Rey Schools and other schools in the Washington, DC area and working with the ADW team.
· Work closely with the President and VP of Advancement and Corporate Work Study to develop and execute a short and long-term communication plan that enhances the image of DBCR in the community and beyond to increase interest and loyalty to the school.
· Create short term and long-term social media calendar and execute with frequent postings with pictures, stories, reels. Currently using: Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook, Twitter, and Likedin. Coordinate with the marketing and communications department to incorporate development and work study.
· Assist the Athletics Department, College Counseling, and Academics Department to support their marketing/communications needs. This includes actively and frequently highlighting these areas on social media through posts, tweets, tik toks and reels and also coming up with creative ways to share the news internally and externally.
· Responsible for developing ideas to communicate student achievements for academics, athletics, student life, and college counseling on campus. Coordinate to ensure marketing and branding.
· Support the Leadership Team on any marketing and communications needs.
· Write/edit/pitch press releases and manage relationships with media outlets as it relates to athletics, college counseling, and academics. This can include, but is not limited to, creating school fact sheets, promoting opportunities, sporting events such as the Cristo Rey Cup and more.
· Seek public relations, media, and civic events for the President (and other members of Leadership) to attend
· Coordinate the revision, inventory and distribution of promotional materials, as needed for service lines.
· Support the school’s online website content as it relates to service lines and ensure that new information is posted regularly (Ensure consistency and accuracy of all information posted
· Manage school logos and implement standards across the school. Articulate the school’s vision and image across all media to ensure a consistent & positive brand
· Oversee all outsourced design, advertising, video, and print jobs as it pertains to service lines. Coordinate when needed.
· Takes photographs/video at DBCR events for marketing and communication materials as it coordinates with service lines.
· Other duties as assigned
Experience and Qualifications
Required
· Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or similar field, or equivalent in experience Master’s degree in related discipline a plus.
· 2-4+ years of relevant experience
· Minimum of 1 year experience with website management and social media platforms
· Ability to demonstrate increased brand recognition, market share, and partner loyalty through sound planning and implementation
· Ability to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism in all circumstances
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail
· Self-motivation and discipline to regularly set and achieve work goals.
· Openness to feedback and to using feedback to inform his/her professional practice.
· Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.)
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
· Desire to work as part of a team, friendliness, a sense of humor, and willingness to help
when needed
· Desire to work at a faith-based educational institution with urban students
· Demonstrated ability to take primary responsibility for a diverse number of projects and to complete them in a timely manner with limited supervision
Preferred
· Ability to build communication systems to support fundraising, enrollment, corporate work study job securement, and school visibility
· Understanding of digital marketing and communications as it relates to branding
and fundraising efforts
· Experience with Microsoft Publisher, Constant Contact and other marketing applications and software
· Experience conducting trend analysis & analyzing quantitative marketing/communications data
· Experience working in an academic-centered setting
· Experience working in Catholic-sponsored organization
· Bilingual in Spanish
