The Marine Mechanic IV uses various tools, testing instruments and equipment to install, align, repair, test, and maintain mechanical equipment associated with the operation of various marine machinery and facilities.

This position is unaccompanied; and a Bachelor’s Quarter (BQ) will be provided.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as installing, aligning, repairing, testing, and maintaining mechanical equipment associated with the operation of, but not limited to, Shore Power Caissons, Dry Dock, Delta Pier, Service Pier, Marginal Wharf, and Explosives Handling Wharf.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs engine equipment and systems on assigned vessels.
  • Disassembles, inspects, repairs, tests, aligns, troubleshoots, adjusts, and installs marine auxiliary systems and components.
  • Moves between areas to meet the workload requirements of the position.
  • Orders replacement parts from machine shops and other vendors.
  • May be required to obtain and maintain asbestos certification for the purpose of maintenance and repair to items containing asbestos.
  • The work may involve accomplishment of minor electrical connections or diagnosis.
  • Conducts vessel inspections.
  • Maintains vessel charts and maritime publications.
  • Conducts on-the-job training of junior personnel as required.
  • Supports on-land vessel dry dockings.
  • Ensures all work is performed IAW company procedures, Ops, and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Four (4) years rounded experience in mechanical and machine equipment repair, with some years of experience in marine mechanical equipment or facilities maintenance work.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and overhaul diesel engines.
  • Must possess good communication skills for a service team environment.
  • Valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Travel by plane, helicopter and/or boat to conduct work activities on an outer island as may be required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport.
  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks, pre-employment physical requirements, including respirator qualification and drug testing required by the contract.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance, which includes U.S. Citizenship or U.S. naturalization.
  • U.S. Citizenship.

In order to qualify for this position, you must be fully vaccinated prior to the start of your assignment and show proof of your vaccination status, unless you are legally entitled to an accommodation (religious or medical).

The definition of fully vaccinated is that you have:

1.) Received a vaccine that is recognized by the governing entity and is either a.) Two doses of Pfizer BioNTech Vaccine b.) Two doses of AstraZeneca/Oxford Vaccine c.) Two doses of Moderna Vaccine (or) d. One dose of Johnson & Johnson Vaccine; and

2.) Two weeks elapsed after the final dose was administered, which is either one or two doses depending on brand of the vaccination.
