Position Summary

Quality and Manufacturing Engineer
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the position plans and conducts activities concerned with the quality assurance of industrial processes, materials, and products. Works with multiple improvement strategies such as Six Sigma and Total Quality Management to solve, develop, and monitor improvement processes throughout the Dexter organization.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works with Engineers to develop tools, implements designs, and build/rebuild machinery or equipment to ensure effective manufacturing processes.
  • Utilizes prints to fabricate components which includes using several forms of metal chip forming processes and assembly.
  • Run samples of manufactured products on new machines to verify conformity and capability to specifications.
  • Assists engineers, inspects products, conducts tests, and collects data.
  • Manages and maintains facility and grounds.
  • Works with outside contractors on building maintenance and improvement projects as well as projects in the Manufacturing Engineering area.
  • Work with purchasing for MRO supplies.
  • Performs other tasks or duties as assigned.
  • Must know how to use a tape measure and be able to read a technical drawing and follow work instructions.
  • Candidates must have a good work and attendance history, a safety-first attitude, good communication skills, and have the flexibility to work overtime. Prior machine operation experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is a plus. Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Candidates must be dependable, must be able to read work instructions and other work documents provided in English; must
  • Must be proficient in understanding mechanical drawings.
  • While in the workplace, responsible for both quality and safety.
  • Review quality documents as required.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.

Requirements

Requires Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology or a comparable discipline and at least 2 years related experience; or an equivalent in combination of education and experience. Proficiency in welding/fabricating, knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics, print reading abilities and Microsoft Office skills preferred
