Job Description:

Undergraduate degree in Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience. A minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive plant manufacturing. A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience. A high level of proven analytical ability is required to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, develop solutions, and lead their implementation. Must have a strong understanding of manufacturing and equipment principles. Demonstrated successful performance with independent and team problem solving, presentations, leadership, and coordinating and completing multiple tasks within and across departments to meet changing deadlines. Must be proficient with computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, project management, etc.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for the daily operating of the foam line and the facilitating, directing, and supporting all support groups in the production of a quality product that “exceeds our customers’ expectations”.

Responsibility:

  • Responsible for employee safety related to Fam Plant and processes.
  • Responsible for Quality related to scrap reduction from process & tooling causes.
  • Responsible for Tool cleaning schedule and process.
  • Directs process engineers and tooling technicians.
  • Works with other departments towards overall plant goals.
  • Define standardized work for process/tooling team members and ensure they are completed.
  • Control process parameters and ensure they are within specification (tool and chemical temperatures, pressure, ratios, etc.).
  • Responsible for tool preparation, including wax application.
  • Responsible for tool care, tool maintenance, and tooling changes.
  • Responsible for wax application standardized work and equipment.
  • Responsible for receiving inbound chemicals and the process for loading into bulk tanks.
  • Responsible for inbound chemical validations (review of Certificate of Analysis).
  • Responsible for setting up, revising, and managing poor patterns and foam mixing parameters between ISO & Poly.
  • Ensuring product quality meets customer drawing requirements.
  • Ensuring product meets quality requirements after tooling, process, or other changes.
  • Ensuing that tool changes are completed safely.
  • Execute tool changes per schedule provided from Operations/Materials team.
  • Responsible for Approving new product designs, design changes, new tool designs, and tool changes.
  • Required to apply technical problem-solving tools.
  • Required to lead Continuous Improvement activities related to process/quality/tooling.
  • Required to program and troubleshoot robots.
  • Must support environmental objectives.
  • Work with chemical vendors to optimize performance/quality/cost.
  • Develops detailed electrical and mechanical specifications for manufacturing equipment and related items.
  • Determines staffing, material handling, facility and tool requirements and ensures these resources are provided or timely launch.
  • Initiates cost saving activities by evaluating current cost and seeks alternative process as replacements.
  • Assists with the preparation of all the quotes for new product and ongoing engineering changes.
  • Interacts with and coordinates all the outsourced activities with vendors on major line/equipment builds.
  • Recruits, coaches and counsels employees for success and conducts performance reviews; manages the professional development of employees, planning for progression and succession.
  • Leads the investigation of accidents including: determination of the underlying occurrence, identifying the need for corrective and/or preventive action, recommending solutions for improvement, and recording results.
  • Implement and maintain high standards of housekeeping and 5S standards.
  • Administers and ensures compliance with the Quality, Environmental, and Material Management System requirements as outlined in the policy manuals.
  • Ensure reporting supervisors are held accountable for the safety of their associates.
  • Ensure Pre-Start Health & Safety reviews are conducted in accordance with customer standards on any new or modified equipment which contains a safety device.
  • Displays a positive attitude towards safety, works safely, follows all company policies, and reports all unsafe and unhealthy conditions.
  • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
  • Complies with all Health, Safety and Environmental standards in accordance with the Customer Employee Charter and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
