Description:
JOB SUMMARY:
The position will be responsible for building strong working relationships with internal customers and successfully implementing a supply chain strategy.
The successful candidate will actively look for ways to create value and further the role of supply chain in business functions through sourcing, procurement and contracting activities. The Manager of Strategic Sourcing will oversee annual bid planning with Sourcing Specialists, supplier management, pricing negotiation, identification and execution on savings opportunities.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Build a strong business relationship with internal customers and work closely to understand their business needs and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Create value for the organization by reducing cost, improving quality, enhancing service levels and reducing idle time.
- Collaborate with internal customers to identify and track market drivers and suppliers that closely align with the needs of the Company.
- Prioritize key categories and associated sourcing strategies; develop a sourcing timeline in consultation with internal customers and conduct sourcing activities aligned with each budget cycle.
- Work proactively to identify risks and mitigate appropriately to ensure successful operations.
- Utilize best practices in negotiation, contract standardization, supplier quality, risk management, technology, and lean principles.
- Work with internal customers to help further the vision and strategy for long term supplier development. Support the assessment and rationalization of the supply base.
- Support supplier risk assessments from a financial, safety, supply perspective, to drive value and improve supply chain performance. Be actively involved in monitoring supplier performance and relationship management.
- Work with procurement staff to support operational needs related to new deliveries, inventory, material transfers, material tracking, repairs etc.
- Oversee procurement staff to ensure staff development, continuous alignment to business objectives and excellent execution to strategy.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Experience building strong working relationships with internal customers and suppliers.
- Experience working in direct categories (i.e., drilling or completions services) in a supply chain function with responsibilities that include competitive bidding, supplier vetting, bid documentation and award.
- Demonstrated understanding of total cost of ownership, cost analysis, along with quantitative analysis on spend/trends and negotiation skills is required.
- Ability to be proactive and possess strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Ability to lead a team successfully.
- Demonstrated record of identification and successful execution on savings opportunities.
- Ability to strongly lead cross functional teams and ensure efficient progress to goals.
- Strong organizational and communication skills required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Supply Chain function.
- 7+ years of experience in Supply Chain with at least 4 years’ experience in sourcing.
- Demonstrated experience working with technical functions in drilling, operations, and/or completions in Oil and Gas.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary. Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. The ability to use a computer, tablet or smart phone for extended periods of time. Basic use of office equipment such as copier and fax machines. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, along with equipment necessary to design, draw, and execute plans.
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time exempt position. Days and hours of work will vary due to workload and needs of the company.
TRAVEL:
Some local and out of town travel is expected for this position. Primary operational areas include Oklahoma and Ohio.
