The Manager, Inventory Shortage Control is responsible for inventory/item accuracy and shortage control. This position is responsible for location and divisional item integrity, which is critical to the success of reducing company shortage, optimizing sales and supporting operational processes. This will be accomplished through strong partnership with Merchant teams, Planning teams, Store teams, Distribution Centers, Store Operations, Accounts Payable, Retail Accounting and Vendor Relations. This candidate will possess strong communication skills, strong business and financial analysis skills, and be a team player with problem solving ability. This individual must be able to view the total business and actively get involved in the details and understand the impact of multiple different scenarios and its effects on inventory accuracy, company shortage and the total business.
Job Description
- Manage all inventory adjustments from stores, merchants and planning areas. This includes research and execution of all asset and consignment adjustments due to, but not limited too; on-line sales filled from stores, direct to store and DC receipts, RTV’s, transfers, damages, invalid SKN usage, improper sales transactions and merchandise to expense charges.
- Analyze all item change requests to ensure validity and accurately complete item adjustments in a timely manner to ensure item integrity.
- Monitor several reports to ensure proper financial booking of all receipts and inventory movements between stores, DCs and Saks.com. Research, problem solve and process adjustments when needed.
- Monitor and analyze SKU integrity of specific stores and DC locations, to maintain optimal accuracy of item integrity. Develop and implement strategies to correct store locations with high error rates.
- Participate in preparing locations for, capturing and reconciling an annual financial inventory. Direct responsibility to reconcile an assigned group of stores and divisions or groups. This includes the monitoring of several daily reports and researching inventory discrepancies for corrective actions and processing inventory adjustments. Act as a lead liaison to stores through the entire inventory process.
- Schedule, monitor and follow up on all stock/unit counts on an as-needed basis. Ensure an accurate reconciliation and completion of counts. Responsible for all correction or rescheduling counts if needed. Report all significant discrepancies to AVP Inventory Shortage Control.
- Provide training to locations on shortage and item accuracy procedures.
- Proactively analyze assigned store and DC shortages to identify potential problems and meet with AVP to strategize correction.
- Participate in, and support both corporate and store shortage strategies.
- Participate in various, as needed projects to reduce shortage exposures for the company.
Job Requirements
- University of College degree or commensurate retail experience.
- Strong business and financial analysis skills and attention to details.
- Advanced computer skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong team player with analytical and problem solving skills.
- Partnership and interactions skills with leadership abilities.
