GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Human Resources Manager serves as a trusted advisor, business partner, and coach to OrthoNY management on various day-to-day HR activities such as hiring practices, performance management, employee relations, change management, and compliance with employment law. This position will also direct and support routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including recruitment, benefits, leave administration, Payroll and HRIS, as well as enforcing company policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Develop strong employee relations at all levels of the organization; balancing employee advocacy with business and operational needs.

· Provide management with coaching and consulting support in all areas of performance management, including improving unacceptable or undesired work behaviors or performance through corrective action, performance evaluations, development or improvement plans and termination, if deemed necessary.

· Independently respond to employee allegations and complaints. Initiate and manage investigations to ensure fair and consistent resolution. Make recommendations to leadership to address findings, if applicable.

· Participate in the onboarding process, including delivering new employee orientation in areas related to policies, harassment prevention and benefits.

· Conduct exit interviews, analyze workforce data, and make recommendations to management for corrective action and continuous improvement. Facilitate all termination paperwork for voluntary and involuntary terminations.

· Respond to unemployment claims and participate in unemployment hearings of impacted employees.

· Collaborate with Risk Management to develop and maintain safety culture, best practices and policies.

· Administer various human resources plans and procedures for the organization; assist in development and implementation of human resource policies and procedures, including the employee handbook.

· Coordinate and deliver overall quality HR support to ensure requests are met in a timely manner related to recruitment, staffing, employee relations, compensation, workforce planning, and other HR related services, as needed.

· Engage in ongoing assessment of HR process effectiveness. Identify improvement opportunities and recommend and/or implement solutions.

· Work closely with Director, Human Resources to establish compensation in accordance with the organization’s salary structure as it relates to the job responsibilities and organizational goals. Ensure positions/roles are appropriately matched to the market for the position analysis. Address internal equity/compensation issues.

· Hire, train, onboard, develop and manage a team of HR professionals in their day-to-day performance. Promote effective collaboration and provide continuous support to all areas of the team/department.

· May lead or coordinate special projects as assigned.

· Remain current on state and federal employment and labor laws as well as regulatory requirements.

· Perform other tasks and duties as assigned and needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree required.

· HR certification preferred.

· Minimum five (5) years of human resources experience, including employee relations, recruitment, performance management, compensation, employee benefits, training and development, payroll, and all legal aspects of employment required.

· Experience with regulatory requirements or proceedings such as DOL and unemployment hearings preferred.

· Experience partnering with all levels of staff and management in a fast-paced environment required.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms required; experience with ADP desired.

· Demonstrated leadership, coaching and staff development skills.

· Demonstrated ability to make autonomous decisions related to the support and service of a specific business group or company.

· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple partners to positively affect outcomes at the team, organization, and employee level.

· Demonstrated ability to pro-actively identify problems, as well as recommend and/or implement effective solutions.

· Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and develop relationships both internally and externally.

· Demonstrated ability to work with and maintain confidential information.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Flexibility to adapt to a changing and fast-paced environment.

· Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

OTHER INFORMATION

· This is an “in office” position based in our Central Business Office located in Latham, NY.

· This position requires more than 40 hours a week including occasional meetings after regular business hours.

· This position requires periodic travel to and between practice locations and related companies, vendors and other locations throughout the community in support of recruitment efforts.

· This position will require a combination of long periods of sitting at a desk, looking at a computer screen with repetitive hand movements (typing) and periodic walking, bending, and twisting with an occasional need to carry and/or lift up to 20 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
