Job description
The Development Services Training Manager oversees, manages, develops, and conducts the Development Services training programs for the department. Manages the DSD Onboarding Academy, ICC Spring/Fall Academy, professional development training, and continuing education training.
The Department Training Officer will be responsible for overseeing, developing, and tracking all training outcomes for all Department divisions. This position is designed to help ensure team members are properly trained, maintaining required licenses/certifications, and assisting in all training requirements that will support the Accreditation of the Department through the International Accreditation Services Agency.
- Manages, supports, and coordinates the Development Services training programs and strategies to support the department and its personnel.
- Develops, plans, and directs long-range goals for current and new programs within the department; creates training manuals and platforms to assist initiatives, monitors continuing education, supports professional development, and manages the communication of code compliance standards.
- Coordinates and facilitates programs and resource allocation within the department and with other executives in other departments.
- Works, engages, and communicates with ICC and other development organizations to develop outreach and education programs; recruits and manages volunteers for community service projects
- Collaborates with Public Affairs Office, publicizes programs and initiatives to the public through marketing materials, traditional, and social media outlets.
- Manages and coordinates special research requests and coordinates responses to the City Manager and City Council with accurate and timely results.
- Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in business/public administration, education, construction, or training/development field.
- Five (5) years of professional experience training, teaching, or instructing employee development programs/certifications.
- Three (3) years of supervisory/management experience. (This experience may be included in the required experience listed above.)
- Master’s degree or higher in a specified field plus three (3) years of the required experience including three (3) years supervisory/management responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements
- Associate degree in any field plus seven (7) years of the required experience including three (3) years supervisory/management responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a non-specified field plus seven (7) years of the required experience including three (3) years supervisory/management responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.
- High school diploma or GED plus nine (9) years of the required experience including three (3) years supervisory/management responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.
- International Code Council (ICC) Professional Certification will substitute one (1) year of the required training, teaching, or instructing employee development programs/certifications experience
- Must obtain any three (3) International Code Council (ICC) Professional Certification within 12 months of appointment.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Training, instructional design certifications preferred
- Knowledge of principles and practices of training, supervision, and personnel management.
- Knowledge of organization strategic planning.
- Knowledge of operations, research, and human resources planning.
- Ability to write clear and concise plans, reports, and present information.
- Ability to analyze complex organization structures and functional relationships
- Ability to apply mathematical and statistical methods to organizational studies.
- Ability to plan short- and long-range strategies for program success.
- Ability to present detailed projects and plans, both in person and virtually.
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite.
- Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
For evaluation purposes, acceptable qualifying experience for all positions must have been in a paid capacity unless noted otherwise in the minimum qualifications for the posted position.
Additionally, 30+ hours per week will be counted as full-time employment and will receive full credit for the amount of time employed. A minimum of 15 through 29 work hours per week will be counted as part-time employment and will receive half credit for the amount of time employed.
