Job description
Nuttall Gear LLC, a Division of Altra Industrial Motion is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic/Millwright to repair machining equipment for our location in Niagara Falls, NY.
SUMMARY: The Maintenance Mechanic/ Millwright will maintain and repair machining equipment for the facility. Some general building maintenance and machine installation are also part of the duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties/responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Demonstrate a high level of initiative and accept the responsibility of ownership for your work.
- Perform daily routine and required maintenance on machines within facility.
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments and examining finished parts
- Prepare site for installation or movement of machines.
- Understand and follow the shop safety practices and related procedures set forth for your position always mindful of working in a safe manner following safety rules.
- Complete required documentation on all machine repairs.
- Operate manual and powered work transport equipment as needed for work within facility.
- Recommend method changes towards process improvements applying the principals of lean manufacturing.
- Focus on both our external and internal customers in everything you do.
- Maintain a neat and clean work area keeping all equipment in proper storage areas.
Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS and COMPENTENCIES:
Nuttall Gear, LLC is required to comply with ITAR (International Trade in Arms Regulations). Therefore, successful candidates for this position must have an unrestricted right to work in the U.S. and not require visa sponsorship either now or in the future.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the following:
Expertise in machine & equipment repair
- Ability to setup and operate all maintenance tools & equipment
- Must have general knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, plumbing and basic electrical experience
- Must be a self-starter with attention to detail
- Ability to read blueprints, repair manuals, hydraulic diagrams, pneumatic diagrams as well as electric schematics.
- Ability to read and use all inspection measuring instruments
- Ability to use computer and demonstrate basic math skills
- Must be a team player and demonstrate ability to work with all employees in a professional manner
- Must have strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
- Understanding of industrial safety procedures such as Lock-out-tag-out, NFPA70, Etc.
- Supportive attitude for procedures, policies and initiatives in support of lean manufacturing, quality and safety.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE CREDENTIALS:
- A High School diploma or GED equivalency is required from an accredited institution
- Certificate of completion from an accredited machining program, preferred, or 2 years equivalent machining experience.
- 5 years experience in a repair position in a manufacturing environment preferred

Lifting requirements include but not limited to the following:
Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, beyond 50 pounds with assist only.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to an industrial environment including moving mechanical parts. Personal protective safety equipment must be worn and proper safety precautions must be observed. Potential exposure may include, but is not limited to: oils, solvents, dusts, noise, heat, cold.
